ABOUT MARIYUM

Mariyum Rizwan is a Philadelphia-based writer, editor and producer with a passion for covering politics, policy, community stories, culture, and breaking news. A recent graduate of Temple University with a B.A. in Journalism, she currently serves as the Lead Engagement Strategist for News Ambassadors, a national newsroom initiative that uplifts youth-led, solutions-focused journalism.

Mariyum’s work spans multiple platforms and reflects a deep commitment to inclusive, community-centered journalism. As a former Producer Trainee at Fox 29 Philadelphia, she supported the production of Good Day Philadelphia and daily newscasts by researching, pitching, scripting and coordinating live segments. She has reported for The Philadelphia Inquirer, WHYY, The Trentonian and Central Desi.

She has also served as Features Editor of The Temple News, Copy Editor for The Templar yearbook and Newsletter Editor for CNN commentator Michael Smerconish.
